Spontaneous Yellowstone

As if 2020 hasn't been wacky enough...

Every year since Pax was about 2, we've ended our summers with a decompress and reconnect camping trip to our favorite quiet spot near Steamboat Springs. Even with all the Covid craziness, we were still planning on taking that trip. As the time to head out approached our beautiful state started catching fire. The skies have been filled with smoke and our fire fighters were being pushed to their limits. On top of all that, a green algae outbreak started infecting the lakes near our campsite. So, we cancelled that trip.

Ok, on to plan B. Once we sadly decided to cancel the spot we had, we booked another spot at another favorite campsite. It was still in state, but far enough away from all the ickiness that we thought it'd be ok. It was ok for about a half a day. Then more fires happened and surrounded the other spot on three sides. Sadly we cancelled that trip as well. That was Saturday.

Sunday my incredible husband offered up a brilliant idea - let's just go to Yellowstone! And so we did! We booked a little cabin in West Yellowstone at a KOA, packed up all our stuff and headed out first thing Monday morning. We spend a magnificent week and had a blast! Hooray fro creative spontanaity!!
